Gionata is PhD student at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Chalmers University of Technology (Göteborg, SE), supervised by Professors Jens Nielsen and Post Doc Verena Sewers. Originally from Milano,Italy, Gionata completed his Bachelor of Science (2005) and Master of Science (2008) degrees in Industrial biotechnology, at the University of Milano-Bicocca and supervised by Professor Danilo Porro. He joined the Centre for Microbial Biotechnology Biocentrum-DTU in 2007 where he completed an industrial biotechnology research under the supervision of Professor Jens Nielsen, Professor Lisbeth Olsson and PhD student Jose´ Manuel Otero, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for a Master’s Degree in Industrial Biotechnology.
Research interest
Gionata’s immediate aim is to pursue a world-class quality PhD research at an internationally recognized laboratory specializing in metabolic engineering of microbial cell factories for industrial biotechnology applications. The research interest focus on interface metabolic engineering, systems biology, biochemical engineering and genetics to enable a cross disciplinary approach to industrial biotechnology.
My project
Gionata’s PhD exploit metabolic engineering and systems biology tools for constructing an efficient S. cerevisiae cell factory for isoprenoids production capable of industrially relevant yield, titers, and productivities, which can be further evaluated for industrial scale up. |
